Research Production
Students will be able to produce writing that demonstrates their ability to navigate choices and constraints in a variety of public and/or academic research genres that matter to specific communities
This outcome is all about my research I did over the semester. The process of research was kick started by some initial thoughts I had in the beginning of the year seen in my Primary Data Analysis, as well as a Quick Write I did in order to outline some steps for collecting data. These steps culminated in my final research paper, pulling together my research, and making conclusions based off that data.
Primary Data Analysis
This is my first attempt at describing my research and some conclusions that can be made from the data collected. To start, I describe how I collected my data by interviewing teachers to hear their thoughts, as well as collecting power points for analysis. After I had my data, the next task I undertook was summarizing what the teachers had said, as well as some of the key points of the power points in an effort to point out some of the key points of the data collected. Lastly, and probably the hardest, using my data collected, draw some conclusions pertaining to my research question. This was just a first draft, and honestly a rushed one. However, it was the starting point I used for the future to craft something a bit better.
Research Paper
This was the final product of most of the work for the semester. It includes a CARS model introduction, seen from the annotated bibliography, to outline what and why I'm researching rhetoric in teaching, as well as all the data I have gathered with the conclusions I make from that data. In essence, just a better version of what is seen in my Primary Data Analysis.
Quick Write:
Data
For this activity, I was tasked with writing down my plan for the upcoming days on how I would gather my data, and what I need to do. This was an in-class activity, and allowed me to brainstorm some of the key things I needed to do in order to collect my research on time. These were some of my early ideas as to what my research collection process would look like, and some held up through out the whole process of collecting data. For instance, I used the 10 question outline mentioned in the post below, and used this though exercise to try to form another source of data, which eventually ended up being a power point. Other points, especially those on the scheduling the conferences for Tuesday, were not so fruitful.
